When I’m down and out…

or feeling lost in the wilderness,  I still have a better life than this little guy:

I like them. They eat bugs like loathsome earwigs. They live about 10/12 months in a perfect world. But it’s a cold and brutal existence. Sometimes during mating, the female eats the male’s head- extra protein for the new eggs. No moonlight, no cruise, no romance there folks! When the young ones hatch, they scatter - because they also eat each other. What a life!

Film: Best one we’ve watched lately was The Lost Child, not a great film but based on a true story. In 1953, a Navajo family was tricked into signing away their rights to their twin children- boy and girl.  The girl was adopted by a Jewish couple in New York. Years later she found her birth family and her place in the Navajo world.  Apparently this happened quite a bit in the 1950’s and 60s.  Last night, we watched When The West Was Fun, a tv documentary about the heyday of television westerns. Best thing about it was it was made in 1979 and since then many cowboy heroes have gone to the big roundup in the sky. Good to see them again! Then we watched Epic Movie, which wasn’t epic,  but overall it was fun. It had funny moments, but there’s a lot of gross physical humor in movies now that I just find stupid. I’ve moved past potty jokes!
