Dorie’s Different Reality

I made an embroidered picture back when Mr. Reagan was President. I recall I’d bought a big asst. of embroidery threads with lots of colors to try. I was using crewel techniques, only with the cotton thread. So I just stitched away and never quite knew how to finish it. It’s been sitting in a stash box all this time. Not like I said, “I’ll put this away until I’m 54 years old” But it’s been there waiting.

Actually I like it! The black with the bright colors reminds me of those Russian lacquer boxes.  And the little hummingbird is definitely country primitive. I happened to have a bamboo hoop painted black in the same stash box. So voila! Now it’s on the bedroom wall to enjoy.
