I’m snickering! I found a “how long do you have left to live?” quiz: http://www.deathclock.com/?source=FindaDeath&key=TopBanner

First time when I calculated my BMI I answered honestly. It came up I died in 2002! So I did it again, and lied about my weight; pretended I lost 50 lbs. Oh gee, this time I died in May 2007. So friends, welcome to the ghost edition DDR blog!greenghost.jpg Oddly enough, I had a cholesterol/glucose screening last week. The local hospital puts on Community Health events and I could get the test for a mere $20- cheaper than going to the doctor’s office. My cholesterol is 156- very good! Glucose was okay. I came out high on triglycerides, which it was last time I had a test. I wonder if that goes along with being overweight.  No red flags but I probably should eat less meat and walk now and then. Anyhow, I’m doing okay for a dead woman ;-)

For Once I Didn’t Cry: I’ve watched two other film versions of Goodbye Mr. Chips!, as well as reading the book by James Hilton, and had a big sniffle every time. This morning I watched the original 1939 film with Robert Donat and Greer Garson. It’s a nice, sentimental film. I found myself comparing the school and the teachers to Hogwarts. I wonder if the British “public school” (which is what they call private schools for some reason) is that universal? Mr. Chips, as a young teacher bound for his first job, rode on the Brookfield express-not unlike the Hogwarts Express and Harry Potter. Film buffs consider 1939 the golden year of Hollywood filmmaking. It’s the year of The Wizard of Oz, Gone With The Wind, Mr. Smith Goes to Washington, Stagecoach, Wuthering Heights, Ninotchka, and this little gem of a film. Wow, that’s like every movie a person interested in film just has to see! Robert Donat won the Oscar for Best Actor- beating out Clark Gable as Rhett Butler.

So much for film excellence- time to do laundry!
