Ghost to Coast
Do you have a “ghost” story? Or a mysterious coincidence. This is Halloween week, so definitely the time to tell it. This is my oldest one. Not so much terrifying, as darned curious:
When Mike left the Navy, we moved back to Toledo, Ohio. Since he was unemployed and looking we had to be careful with money. We rented a very cost effective, no lease, furnished mobile home in East Toledo.
Once late at night a noise woke me up. There were chain locks on the doors and the sound was just like somebody stuck their hand into the door and was trying like blazes to move that chain over and get the door open. (Which should have been locked with the “snap” lock anyhow) So I shook Mike for all it was worth- and said in a loudish whisper, “Somebody is trying to get in here” One of us peeked out the window but couldn’t see anything. By the time we both were up, the noise had stopped.Okay, the logical explanation is being a good-sized mobile home park and late at night somebody was probably drunk, thinking it was their own place and trying to get in. What we discovered in the morning was weird. It was late Winter- there was snow on the ground. There were lots of tracks of us between the front door and the car- but no fresh footprints near the mobile home! Creepy.
We moved a few weeks later!
