Day 30!

Friday, November 30th, 2007

Well, when this post gets published, it means I’ve made it through “NaBloPoMo”! It’s been fun. I’ve met some new people. I didn’t get writer’s block too many times. I’m not going away, but I’ll probably slack back to writing every 2/3 days as I did before.
In Celebrity News: Brett Favre got hurt in the […]

One Man’s Trash

Thursday, November 29th, 2007

is another man’s treasure  Yesterday, we had an enjoyable visit to the Antique Mall. I poked around and admired for over an hour. I gather it’s a competitive business in the sense that the people who rent the spaces expect the leasees to keep their stock attractive and seasonal. In that respect a lot of […]

Living on Dairy Time

Wednesday, November 28th, 2007

I don’t sleep worth a damn anymore. Maybe six hours on a good night- not counting every stupid thing that wakes me up. Add to that, I haven’t made the “shift” to Standard Time. I start nodding off about 8 p.m. It balances out; figuring the rest of the world goes to bed by 11 […]

Goodbye Southwyck Center

Tuesday, November 27th, 2007

I’ve bookmarked the links to newspapers from cities where I used to live and check in now and then.  In recent news from the Toledo Blade, comes plans to demolish the Southwyck Shopping Mall.  Apparently it can’t attract merchants and it’s a hulk. They’re going to tear it down and go for the “village square” retail […]

I better not be grinchy!

Monday, November 26th, 2007

My thanks to Grand Duchess Pamela of Techno, personal blogging support tech (and daughter!) for installing this nifty Christmasy blog theme. So for the next 29 days, every time I go here, I’ll be reminded that Santa is coming and he’s taking names, so I better be good!
This week I thought I’d highlight some of the […]

Technically Befuddled

Sunday, November 25th, 2007

I was looking at the ads in the Sunday paper for Best Buy, Office Max, etc. They sell stuff I don’t even know what it does.  2009  is the year people have to get an HD television. Our not HD tv is about 4 years old, works fine. I gather they sell a converter we […]

Meme break….

Saturday, November 24th, 2007

It’s not that blogging is hard, but blogging every day is hard.  I’m going to take a break to collect my thoughts today. Wanna play along with the Meme’s? I won’t tag anybody, but you can leave a note in the comments if you’re playing along.
1st- Google game: go to www.google.com  under search type in […]

Ignoring Black Friday

Friday, November 23rd, 2007

Well, the warm weather didn’t hold! Still, it was way cool to have all the doors open. We gave Vera a bath because she could go outside and air dry. Shar-peis hate water. Vera has skin allergies, so bathing gives her some relief. It’s a stealth mission every time. But now she’s all shined up […]

Turkey Day!

Thanksgiving
The year has turned its circle,
The seasons come and go.
The harvest all is gathered in
And chilly north winds blow.
(um guys, it’s ’sposed to reach 68 degrees here today!)
Orchards have shared their treasures,
The fields, their yellow grain,
So open wide the doorway —
Thanksgiving comes again!

Dog Lovers Understand

Wednesday, November 21st, 2007

Today is our puppy’s birthday. Ms Vera Wang Tiny Dancer, the Chinese Shar-pei from El Dorado Springs, Missouri turns two today! In celebration, I’m going to fix the food the whole family loves: liver & onions.  Vera and Tesla’s portion will probably be poached. I figure she’ll appreciate it much more than a cake!
