Dorie’s Different Reality

For entertainment today, I have done a search on the well-known Presidential candidate’s heights. 

 I was surprised to find out that we Americans are some tall folks- always have been. George Washington was 6′2″, Thomas Jefferson was 6′2″(and a half!)  Our greatest president was also the tallest to date- Mr. Lincoln at 6′4″ Then again back in the Federalist era, our all-time shortest President lived: James Madison at 5′4″

I find the “and a half” thing amusing- I’m 5′4″ and a half- in other words not 5′5″, so I say 5′4″. Maybe if the US were metric it would matter.

Anyhow, here’s the list in descending order:

Fred Thompson 6′6″
Mitt Romney 6′2″
Barack Obama 6′1 1/2″
John Edwards 5′10″
Rudy Giuliani 5′9 1/2″
Hillary Clinton 5′8 1/2″ - wow, she looks shorter next to Bill, who is 6′2″
Dennis Kucinich said to be the same height as Michael Dukakis, about 5′8″
John McCain 5′7″
Ron Paul - could not find his height- he doesn’t look like a tall person on tv
So there ya go- vote for the candidate whose jeans you want to borrow!

trivia- President Bush #41 is 6′2″ (or was when he was younger-he’s over 80 now) His son, Bush #43 is 5′11″ We’d always heard that our kids get taller because of nutrition, but there’s some genetics at play I guess.

Estimated average height around the world these days- 5′5″ We are tall in the saddle.
