And the winner is…
When she goes, she’s gone.
If she stays, she stays here.
The girl does what she wants to do.
She knows what she wants to do.
And I know I’m fakin’ it,
I’m not really makin’ it.
Fakin’ It, Paul Simon, Bookends, 1968
I question Hillary Clinton’s anger over issues raised in two of Obama’s campaign flyers. I’m sure she’s angry; she’s angry she hasn’t got this nomination in the bag by now! She’s down in the polls, and needs to win Ohio & Texas to remain viable. The flyers don’t contain anything that Obama hasn’t said before. The “HOW DARE YOU” stuff is her taking another tack. Just a few days ago, everything was cordial and diplomatic at the debate. To me anyhow, all the righteous indignation isn’t ringing true. I think she and her campaign people (not counting the manager let go a couple of weeks ago) have decided to fight hard…nothing to lose. Anything to grab a few more votes for these crucial primaries.
I’ve read several news stories about how she didn’t expect this fight for the nomination. One poll report I heard said that with her as the candidate John McCain will win; but in a race with Obama, McCain will lose. The party leaders are probably paying attention to reports like that.
For the past week I’ve been reading Gail Sheehy’s book, Hillary’s Choice. Among other things, the author is telling the story of how Hillary’s whole adult life has been leading up to the election this year.
They started out bright, ambitious people who sincerely wanted (perhaps still want) to make the world a better place. She’s sixty years old now. If she doesn’t get the nomination, four years from now, her age/health might become an issue. True, she might not be ready to retire to her rocking chair, but so often our genes make decisions like that for us. It’s no disgrace to be the first woman elected to the Senate for New York, as well as wife of a two term President.
Not going to watch the Oscars: I haven’t seen any of the movies! Of course what it’s become is a fashion parade. I’ll be able to check out the dresses online tomorrow. We have a DVD of Elizabeth, starring Cate Blanchett, so we’ll probably watch that tonight.
My daughter is wonderful. She gave me The Moon!!! ———->

I love that picture of Bill and Hillary! It almost makes me want to vote for them.
Poor Hillary. She’s SO angry now that getting the nomination is not as easy as she thought it would be. Just her luck that when the country is almost ready to consider a woman for president, a charismatic black man has to come along as well. Yes, she is SO angry. That makes me not want to vote for her.
