Song of the Yarn Lorelei
Every person who does needlecrafts has a “stash” (Nope, not like what we called a stash in the 70’s) I have a buddy who sews and she has boxes and boxes of lovely fabric. I have a nifty plastic box full of dozens of colors of DMC floss. I used to do a lot of counted cross stitch and built up quite a collection of thread, fabric, books, etc. I still love the finished product, but all that counting and stitching is hard on my middle aged eyes, so I don’t do it so much anymore. (Hmmm- maybe if I get one of vitamin formulas that’s supposed to have vision improving compounds?) And yes, I have all the knitting and crocheting stuff too.
The point is, there’s lots of good things here to keep my hobbies going. And yet, all day long I’ve been fantasizing about a Spring project. A cardigan!
http://www.lionbrand.com/patterns/899.html?noImages=0 In a lovely “Easter Egg” sort of color: aqua, peach, mint, etc. In a nice cotton linen sort of yarn. Resist! Resist! I need potholders! I have painting to finish! A month from now, I’ll be putting goodies in the garden. But it’s those yarn fantasies that keep local yarn shops in business; all those projects in the stash for “someday”
Put down the knitting,
The book and the broom.
Time for a holiday.
Life is Cabaret, old chum,
Come to the Cabaret.

The Oscar Show is going downhill Not just me saying it- the show might turn out the lowest ratings for the Oscars of all time. It’s lack of Billy Crystal! And the glamour is gone. Despite what I said yesterday, I tuned in for the “Red Carpet” special and had to tune out after a few minutes. Mostly because there was so much crowd noise it was ridiculous. And I didn’t think it was much of a show. ABC put Regis Philbin on as host. He’s big with the network. It also didn’t escape me that along with Harrison Ford, P Diddy, Faye Dunaway, lots of television personalities were there. By the merest coincidence from the hit ABC series’: Katherine Heigl, Terre Hatcher, Patrick Dempsey. I had to look up what’s become of Catherine Zeta Jones- she was in Wales for her grandmother’s birthday. Good for her! Tom Cruise and Katie were at the NASCAR racetrack in Fontana. He wasn’t up for anything and if he’d gone he might have bumped into the ex, Nicole, or the first ex, Mimi Rogers (if she was there) and also the ex girlfriend, Penelope Cruz, who was definitely there. But I bet that Katie, as a young actress, would rather have been strutting her stuff on Oscar night instead of watching cars go round and round.
VeraWang’s Day of Beauty She hated it, but Vera got the full spa treatment yesterday. She got her dragon lady nails trimmed. Her ears got washed (oh how she hates that) and a nice bath with her special “blonde” shampoo. After a bath her fur just shines. And she’s all soft and smells so nice today. She’s like the Shar Pei beauty queen!
Lady Terrapins! Are #5 in the country going into March madness. Good for them And their coach just gave birth to twin boys!

My wife has an entire room full of yarn. When my daughter went away to college my wife decided that that room would be a perfect yarn storage room. She knits all the time, but there never seems to be any less yarn in the room.
