Great Leaping Leapyears!

Thirty days hath September,
April, June and November;
All the rest have thirty-one,
Excepting February alone
Which hath but twenty-eight, in fine,
Till leap year gives it twenty-nine.

No day is complete without a bit of trivia. I had to look this up: today marks my 14th leap year day- the first occured in 1956! Also, while it’s widely known that today is the day a woman can propose to a man, if he turns her down he has to give her a present. I like that. Also, some feel that it’s unlucky to marry in a leap year.

Presenting: lacycablesock.jpgA nearly finished “lacy mock cable” sock in Knit Picks’ Essential color “Meteor Twist” It’s been slow going, but I think it’s me more than the pattern. This is knit on #1 bamboo dpns and it’s like knitting on toothpicks. But it does make a nice, tightly knitted sock, and should help it last longer.

I’m still reading Hillary’s Choice  I’ve learned a lot about her. I once heard the opinion, that went-more or less- like this: “you will be amazed how stupid a smart woman can be when there’s a man involved.” So now that’s how I view Hillary. It’s too bad she didn’t have a crystal ball in 1975 to see how the world would change in 30 years. If she doesn’t get the nomination, he’s going to get the blame. I’m not sure anything will be settled after next week.

There is a saint today: Oswald, Bishop of York Said to have died Feb 29, 992 A.D while in the act of washing the feet of the poor of Worcester. (gee the things you can learn from Wikipedia!)
