Dorie’s Different Reality

I’ve had trouble coming up with an idea to blog about today. Politics is on my mind of course. But it’s a long way to November so by way of talking of other things-

Meet my Grandfather, Toney (with an “E”): March 5, 1894 was his birthday.  He was a Marine in World War I. He was wounded in France in October, 1918 and sent back home in April, 1919. This picture looks like he’s about to go home, and somebody took his picture with the nurse taking care of him.

He married my grandmother in January 1920.
I never got to meet him because he died in 1933. He had cancer and there wasn’t a thing that could be done about it; leaving behind a widow and NINE children. (before Social Security at that!) Talk about some hard times.
Still, it’s nice to have a picture.
