“Recuperative Sleep”

I love that phrase! Lindsay Wagner (the original Bionic Woman) uses the term in a commercial for that bed that has the numbers. I don’t think I got my recuperative sleep last night. I feel a bit achy and could go back to bed easily. I have “weather dogs”- when it’s gray and drizzily, they sleep all day. It sounds like a good idea, but I got stuff to do  so I’ll press on.chickegg.jpg

Bamboo sock needles- phooey! My lifestyle with rude doggies jumping on the couch isn’t conducive to cute bamboo sock needles. I bought a set of five #1’s, and now I’m down to 3 1/2 needles! It’s my own fault for not putting my projects away when I get up to do something. If I had little aluminum needles, they might break but more likely, just get bent, which I could fix. Besides, I don’t think you get the tactile advantage of bamboo on the itty bitty sock needles. Next time- metal! I’m in the home stretch on the second meteor twist sock. About time! I’ve been working on them off and on for weeks. Then I want to make a jacket (simple pattern with Homespun) but I find sewing and gardening calling to me as well.

Plugging a series of books: If you’re looking for something new to read, try the “Tomorrow” series by John Marsden. You have to read them in order. The first one is Tomorrow When The War Began. The story begins around Christmas, the height of Summer in Australia. Ellie is a teenager, daughter of ranchers. While she’s off on a camping trip with some school friends, a large powerful Asian country, not named, invades! Most of the adults were at the district fair. The invaders surrounded the fairgrounds and managed to capture most of the adults in the district. Which leaves Ellie and her friends forced to grow up fast and decide what they need to do to avoid captivity and conduct resistance activities against the invaders. Scary enough, it’s realistic and very suspenseful. Another example of a book that the library labels “Young Adult” but really appropriate for anybody 16+. There’s some sexual content, but probably no more than a high school kid hears every day. If you go to your library, you can check out three or four of the books in the series at a time, so you won’t have such a time lag wondering what’s going to happen next!

I “spoiled” Hamish Macbeth for myself: That’s what I’ve been watching this week- Series 2. Then I had to go surfing around on the computer. Now I know what’s going to happen next. I won’t tell you though ;-) and I’m not sure which episode has the unanticipated plot turn- so it will be a surprise in that respect! Oh, I heard an Internet rumor that Robert Carlyle might be the next Dr. Who….would that be good?

Hello Kazakhstan! The little map is showing a visit from there. It might be a web bot, but if an actual person from there read this little blog: Hi there! Drop by anytime! Like Paul Simon said, “this is the age of Miracles and Wonders….” - getting visitors from Central Asia, is a wonder to me. I’ve noticed I haven’t had any visitors from the Southern Hemisphere yet. It’s the end of summer down there; perhaps they’re busy.
