Eclectic Thursday

Hi! It’s going to be one of those days, when I string some randomness together.

Does it come in D cup?Remember the candy necklaces we girls were so fond of? Check this out: http://www.collectionsetc.com/images/product/xlarge/xlarge_92098.
It was in the Collections, Etc. catalog. I think it’s a look that would work better for a small lady though. ;-)

Happy Birthday to Gloria! gloriaphil1966.jpgMy big sister Gloria turned 7-0 a few days ago! Got a note from her and sounds like she’s doing well. Here’s a picture of her with my nephew, Phil from the mid-60’s. Isn’t she pretty? I have always admired her style sense. We don’t look anything alike. Anymore when I see a picture of myself, I think “Dad in a wig” Oy!

Film: We haven’t watched many videos lately. Some of it is the regular programs are having their Season Finales. One notable film we watched was The Straight Story, the true story of Alvin Straight. He was an elderly WWII veteran. He’d lost his driver’s license due to age problems, and heard that his brother was seriously ill. He wanted to see his brother for perhaps the last time, so he hitched up a 30 year old John Deere Lawn Tractor and drove it down the highway from Iowa to Wisconsin! It took six weeks, and this film is the story of that amazing journey and the people Alvin met along the way. Directed by THE David Lynch. These kinds of movies are always good- everybody has a story to tell and the main thing is to get it right.

Medical Whine: The doctor started me on blood pressure medication. That’s cool; not getting any younger and don’t want to have a stroke. The trouble with it is, about two hours after I take the pill (says take in the a.m.) it makes me feel like a truck ran over me! It passes after an hour or so, but in the meantime it’s like wipe-out! Oh yeah, it’s diuretic; so I get to sprint to the loo a lot with it. Joy!

Organic Gardening Experiment: Whenever I’ve tried to grow radishes, I lose a lot of them to bugs, specifically the root maggot. Nothing worse than pulling up a tasty vegetable and finding a worm in it! So, I took some of those little peat pots filled with garden soil (from a bag) and dropped a radish seed in each. I’ve put the little pots on a tray in front of the kitchen window. If all goes well in a couple of weeks, I’ll have bug and pesticide free radishes!

MICHAEL, two of these please! I need a cockateil or two to put on my foot! And such talent! Sometimes money can buy you love ;-)
