“Stay-cation”

I heard that term on the Grandy and Andy radio show yesterday. It’s the new trend- everybody’s doing it. Means you have time off, but can’t afford to go anywhere. As you might expect the news is all about the high price of benzina.
On the Today show, they showed a fellow filling up his big RV and it was over $500. Show that man the Travelocity website ! Even in these difficult days, $500 would buy him round trip airfare and a couple of days in Vegas. Without all that driving!

Down the Ocean: That’s what they say around here. “Going down the ocean, Hon.” It’s been too many years since I’ve been to the ocean. Oddly enough, I don’t like sitting out in the hot sun, getting sand all over me. But oh I love the beach at night! Ocean City, MD has a boardwalk that goes for miles. Lots of souvenir shops, fantastic ‘bad for you” french fry shops, games of chance to play, etc. On the way over, little churches on The Shore sell BBQ chicken to the wayfarers. On the way back, it’s inevitable to stop at a vegetable stand and get some cantaloupe (they’d be from Mexico now- Shore ‘lopes later this summer) and fresh tomatoes. Salisbury, MD is the home city for Perdue Chicken, so you see feathers that fell off the chickens on their way to be “processed” (gulp!) all over the road. Once in a while, you’ll see a “runaway” along the road- a chicken that escaped from the nugget factory!

(sigh) Anyhow, instead of being down the Ocean, I’ll be “in da yard” I have a special request for Mr. Mike to go get me a truckload of mulch. Some women want diamonds, I just want weed control!
