Dorie’s Different Reality

It’s a trend I guess. Sometimes the hottest part of the year here is at the beginning of June, before the first day of summer. It’s supposed to reach at least 90 today. On the news they talk about the “heat index”. Meaning sometimes when it’s 90 outside, it’s so humid it feels much hotter. This is a hard time for the kids because school isn’t out for another week. Savvy teachers turn the lights off and run videos on days like this.

It’s always humid here….I’ll blame the Bay! (about 30 miles east of here) It’s all over the news about the big storm last night. We get wind shears and smallish tornadoes-nothing like Oklahoma, but destructive anyways.

I find myself staying at home a lot more because of the gasoline situation. Seems like if it’s costing Michael twice as much just to commute to work, I have to use half as much gas. It’s okay, the dogs and I will work in the yard. The hot humid weather makes the weeds grow. Someone should come up with a cookbook for all those things that come up in the garden uninvited!

Last night we watched The Last Legion. It’s not a “do not miss this” kind of film. On the “making of” special feature on the DVD, they describe it as an “Intimate Epic” Sort of a fusion of the Roman Empire with the days of Camelot fantasy. The biggest plus- ladies- Colin Firth. I always like a movie with hunky guys and swords. I give it 3 stars.

Please note I’m not blogging about Hillary and Obama. There will be time for that. However my Duchess alerted me to somebody who may very well be the most beautiful politician in the World. Yulia Tymoshenko, Prime Minister of Ukraine. I love the braid- makes a nice mix of tradition and modern.

And she could be on the cover of Elle too!

The article in Wikipedia describes her as the third most powerful woman in the world. Wow! See what they never tell us on the Nightly News!
