Say the Secret Woid
We have a custom around here, now it its second generation. If you use a big word in conversation- 3 or 4 syllables or more, you need to look up on the off chance the duck is coming down. Groucho always said “if you say the secret woid, the duck will come down and you’ll win $100.
Try explaining that to a kid today! (For that matter, try explaining Groucho!)
Our neighbors had a DeSoto. It was pink and white, had black tweed upholstery, and a push button transmission!
